The Christian Louboutin Barbie shoe

The Christian Louboutin Barbie shoe

In her 50 years, Barbie managed to accumulate 1 billion pairs of shoes. When it came to picking her next pair, the iconic doll wanted to go to one of the hottest shoe designers around, so she chose Christian Louboutin.

Mattel, the maker of Barbie, has partnered with Louboutin for a multifaceted program under which the shoe designer will serve as a yearlong godfather to Barbie, not just rethinking her fashion wardrobe and physical attributes, but also art directing her in different lifelike situations.

The project includes the Barbie-pink, red-soled Louboutin shoes that premiered in Barbie’s birthday runway show during New York Fashion Week in February, a Barbie doll and accessories collection customized by the designer and a diary filled with images of Louboutin and Barbie as they explore the cobbler’s favorite things.

“Barbie has a long history of working with various designers and artists who use Barbie as a muse,” said Stephanie Cota, senior vice president of marketing of Barbie brands at Mattel. “It was a natural for Barbie, not only with her fashion heritage, but also because of her passion for shoes. She has a billion shoes and we needed to do something special for her shoe collection.”

Louboutin knew there were certain changes he wanted to make to his three customized dolls, which are inspired by Nefertiti and Marilyn Monroe.

澳洲:Prada可以租来穿

Struggling with redundancy or lower salaries, many Australian women are following in the designer footsteps of their American peers and resorting to renting designer clothes and accessories from online websites or buying them second-hand.

Recession-hit fashionistas wanting to look a million dollars without paying so much are keeping up appearances and fuelling a new industry in Australia – online fashion rentals.

Struggling with redundancy or lower salaries, many Australian women are following in the designer footsteps of their American peers and resorting to renting designer clothes and accessories from online websites or buying them second-hand.

“We have experienced a huge growth particularly in the last three months. It seems like the downturn has done wonders for business,” said Simonne Santana, founder of Love Me and Leave Me (www.lovemeandleaveme.com), the first and one of the biggest fashion-borrowing websites in Australia.

“We’ve experienced record membership intakes and rental intakes. It’s obviously a trend that people have warmed to,” she said, adding the site now has 5,000 members who can also buy used, or new, designer wear at a discount.

The site is one of seven catering to clients that range from students to professionals, and which offer clothes, shoes and handbags from coveted designers such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and Chanel at reasonable rates. A Prada dress which retails for A$1,900 ($1,600) is available for rent on Love Me and Leave Me for A$149.95 ($129) a week or A$249.95 ($215) a month.

Tennis ace Sharapova

Former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova presented a prototype dress to reporters that is designed to light up when the wearer’s mobile telephone rings.

British fashion student Georgie Davies dreamed up the knee-length short-sleeved white dress as part of a school project with mobile phone-maker Sony Ericsson to figure out ways of incorporating new technology into fashion.

Davies said the dress is designed to eventually be connected to the wearer’s phone by Bluetooth wireless technology, so she can be alerted to a call even in noisiest of places.

“When you’re in a pub or a bar, you can never, ever hear your phone,” 20-year-old Davies told Reuters on Wednesday.

One shoulder of the dress down to the hip is embellished with translucent white scales that move and light up.

Sharapova showed off the dress to a gaggle of photographers and a crowd of passers-by from the window of a luxury department store in central London.

Christian Louboutin Galaxy Pass 100 sandals, and now a summer version has been released.  It is the same Christian Louboutin shoe, but in a sandal. As with the original, I absolutely love it! The simple sandal design is one of my favorites, both for comfort and style, and of course the mirrored mosaic embellishments are fabulous. These shoes will flash and shine, bringing every eye in the vicinity on you. They have a 4 inch heel. $1,195 at Net a Porter.Christian Louboutin Galaxy Pass 100 sandals

chanel_v_08jun09_pr_btChanel will launch the newest in its Les Exclusifs de Chanel scent collection next month, a honey floral inspired by one of Coco Chanel’s faithful shades. The twelfth in the series of fragrances originally composed by Coco Chanel’s personal perfumer Ernest Beaux and reinvented for the modern day by Jacques Polge, Beige is a delicate balance of frangipani, lily, heliotrope, ylang-ylang and jasmine flowers mixed with a sweet honey accord. And despite its moniker, it’s far from ordinary – wear through summer for a subtle sensuality. £160, available from Chanel counters nationwide from July.
