Fresh off her recent

misdemeanor assault charge, comely fashion writer Kelly Bensimon arrived at the Openhouse Gallery in Soho on Thursday night, March 19, wearing a pair of striking black heels that lace up the leg.

“I love putting them on!” gushed Ms. Bensimon, co-star of the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of New York City. “Look, the little bow!”

The fancy footwear was appropriate. Ms. Bensimon was there for a party celebrating the limited-edition release of designer Brian Atwood’s new book, Role Play Rene. The book features Tony Duran photographs of the actress Rene Russo wearing Mr. Atwood’s various shoes and, according to a press release, “embodying the power of the woman she portrayed in Thomas Crown Affair.” Blown-up images from the book were hung throughout the expansive gallery on Mulberry Street.

“Brian’s from my home town,” noted Ms. Bensimon, an Iowa native. “When I found out he was showing here, I was like, ‘Welcome to the neighborhood!’”

Socialite Olivia Palermo snaked through the crowd of snapping cameras in a pair of 6-inch olive-colored heels. “Of course these are Brian’s,” Ms. Palermo said. “When you find a good shoe, they are an investment—they’ll take you anywhere!”

At the center of the room, the designer Mr. Atwood, his younger brother Zachary Stemer and his partner, Nate Berkus, of Oprah Winfrey Show fame, had the floor for photos.

“There’s been a lot of buzz about the girls that wear his shoes being very culty about them,” Mr. Berkus later told the Daily Transom. “It’s nice to see New York turn out for [Brian's] work, for something that’s not advertised all over the place every day. We’re two very creative people, very much in line with our own goals, our own vision. It’s great to see his project come to life like this.”

At that point, a barrage of blondes broke through the party, through a curtain of camera flashes. Headlining the group was the socialite Byrdie Bell, the co-host of the evening. “I would love to talk to you about anything except questions,” Ms. Bell said, before being carted off for a photo shoot of her shoes.

Toward the end of the party, designer Dani Stahl made an appearance. She was not wearing heels. Her boots? Not Mr. Atwood’s.

“I’m wearing Miu Miu,” Ms. Stahl said. “I would wear him, though!” she added. “I would!” she insisted, looking off in Mr. Atwood’s direction and raising her fist, triumphantly: “I will wear him!”

SHANGHAI: As one of America’s most famous cheerleading troupes performed at a park in downtown Shanghai on Friday morning, puzzled bystanders were more likely to associate it with the city’s new flagship Barbie store than flourishing Sino-US ties.

Waving pompoms and gyrating in blue and white costumes and replete with white cowboy boots, the official dance troupe of the Dallas Cowboys (a National Football League team) practiced tai chi with elderly Chinese, and swapped dancing tips with hua-gu (flower drum) dancers.

“We’re hoping to mix our cultures a little bit,” said Meagan Sharp, 20. “We’re going to give them our pompoms and let them play around and see what they can take from us, and maybe try to add our power and punch to their gracefulness.”

The girls, who go by the moniker America’s Sweethearts, are as famous as it gets in cheerleading circles. They have at least two movies named after them – the first starring Jane Seymour in 1979 – as well as a recent reality TV show called “Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team”.

While their forebears performed for the US troops in South Korea to celebrate Christmas in 1979, the troupe had never visited China – until American Airlines (AA) flew them over to celebrate its third anniversary in China.

The aim of the weeklong jaunt, which ends on Saturday, is to break down cultural and other barriers using sports and entertainment as a hammer, said Victor Lee, AA’s Greater China regional director.

“It’s good to get people from our home base in Dallas to mix with people here,” he said. “On a broader level, all kinds of sports can be without borders, and we want to show how everyone can participate and enjoy them, even if they cannot understand or play them.”

Similar to Major League Baseball’s historic China debut a year ago – when the San Diego Padres played a two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Beijing – the emphasis was on fun and cultural integration.

Lee said the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) were made for Shanghai, if not made in Shanghai.

“They are full of passion, enthusiasm and energy, and Shanghai has that kind of character in China. It’s a booming city looking to the future, and the people are very receptive to this kind of cultural impact,” he said.

One whiff of Beige and I instantly found my new scent.  Beige is light, with notes of “hawthorne, freesia, frangipani, honey, white petals and yellow gold.”  I bought it that day in February and I’ve been wearing it everyday since.  Beige is now available in Chanel boutiques and will debut soon on the Chanel website.  The 200ml size retails for $190.

Each time I go, I do the tradeshow dance and though you get to read the fruits of our labor here on M.I.S.S., it seems a lot more glamorous than it actually is . . . until now. His work is extraordinarily beautiful, and no matter what the subject, you can expect a level of sophistication that you rarely find anywhere else. marc-jacobs-20090415 Have you been to the Marc by Marc Jacobs Special Items Store? If not you’re missing out, I went the beginning of this month and copped a few things. But before I went my hun Carla already copped me this small quilted pvc tote in light rose, $48 and she also got me a London Dinosaur T-Shirt, $20, and white flip flops too…great great prices! Since I went on a Saturday it was CRAZY packed, the shop is super tiny and things are just all over the place, sizes run out very quickly in the t-shirts, especially in small. The store is dedicated to selling special items and a few Marc Jacobs pieces. The line to pay was damn long, even longer than H&M…my goodness, things are cheap but they aint free…be prepared to spend some time in that tiny shop! But its well worth it I copped a lot of stuff for friends and family and I didn’t break the bank!
